Rabbi Avrohom Lipskier sheyichye is a name venerated in thousands of Jewish homes around the world, as he has introduced, taught and guided his students to a life of Torah and Mitzvos based on Chabad Chassidus.
In the early 1960s, while still a student, Rabbi Lipskier took note of the many "hippies" who came to 770 in search of meaning and inspiration. Rabbi Lipskier brought these youths under his wing and started teaching them Torah and Chassidus. Soon thereafter, the Rebbe established Hadar Hatorah Yeshiva and Rabbi Lipskier continued his work there as a member of the faculty of the first Yeshiva in the world established exclusively for Jewish students with little or no prior Jewish education.
The Rebbe was personally invested in the development and growth of Hadar Hatorah and said that its students are "meine kinder"-- "my children."
In 1972, at the Rebbe's behest, Rabbi and Mrs. Avrohom Lipskier set out to Morristown, New Jersey to establish Yeshivas Tiferes Bachurim for young college students at the Rabbinical College of America. In 1999, Rabbi Lipskier, along with Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Greenberg, Rabbi Eliezer Gold, Menachem Friedfertig, sheyichyu and Shmuel Finck z"l established Yeshivas Tiferes Menachem in Seagate, New York. There in Seagate, Rabbi Lipskier continued his lifelong work of bringing the light of Yiddishkeit to those who grew up with little or no Jewish education.
Many of Rabbi Lipskier's students became Rabbonim and Shluchim, and thousands have established solid Torah-observant and Chassidic families across the globe.
The Tiferes Menachem Scholarship Program is an outgrowth of Tiferes Menachem Yeshiva of Seagate and, as can be seen from this book, has already helped close to 50 Jewish adults, both men and women, establish beautiful Torah-observant and Chassidic homes throughout the world!
The Tiferes Menachem Scholarship Program is an outgrowth of the Tiferes Menachem Yeshiva of Seagate, NY. Yeshivah Tiferes Menachem of Seagate was founded in 1999 by Rabbi Avroham Lipskier, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Greenberg, Rabbi Eliezer Gold, Menachem Friedfertig sheyichyu, and Shmuel Finck z"l. Also, a special thanks to the yeshiva's first administrator, Rabbi Rashi Elgarten. Tiferes Menachem Yeshiva was established to provide Jewish men with little or no Jewish education the opportunity to learn Chabad Chassidus and nigleh with an emphasis on learning inyanei Moshiach and geula. For nearly 20 years, Rabbi Lipskier sheyichye led the Yeshiva, imbuing hundreds of bochurim with a love of Torah and the development of an essential connection to the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Many observant Jewish homes were established because of that Yeshiva's existence. We would like to mention Mr. Yehuda Chakoff, a former student, for his outstanding commitment and financial support of the Yeshiva.
In 2018 the Yeshiva opted to recast itself as the Tiferes Menachem Scholarship Program in order to provide Jewish male and female college students with a fully-funded semester or full academic year to learn in one of eight English-speaking Chabad yeshivos of their choice. The refigured program is providing a much broader range of opportunities for Jewish spiritual and intellectual study and growth than ever before. Exceptional men and women have been provided the opportunity to learn in Yeshiva before embarking on their professional paths. Choices to learn have been available at Machon L'Yahadus and Hadar HaTorah in Brooklyn, NY; Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, NJ; Yeshiva Torah Ohr in Miami, FL; Mayanot for Men and Women in Jerusalem, Israel; and Yeshiva Temimei Darech for men and Machon Alte for women in Tzfas, Israel.
The program has met with astonishing success. We are excited to present a glimpse into the extraordinary transformational results of dedicating uninterrupted time to learning in a Chabad Yeshiva setting.
We have partnered with nearly 50 Chabad campus Shluchim and provided over 75 scholarships to outstanding college students and alumni who devoted either one semester or a full year or more to learning in a Yeshiva. Thank G-d, the vast majority have become fully committed to a life of Torah and Mitzvos. We are proud to say that as of this writing, there are currently fifteen alumni who have married and established Jewish homes. I"YH we are looking forward to celebrating many more happy occasions with the expanding Tiferes Scholars community.
